Has anyone tested a subject who was wheelchair bound? I have been asked to test a sex offender who is in a wheelchair and has no feeling or movement below the middle chest. Further, the test would have to be conducted while he is seated in his chair; not in the polygraph chair, thereby removing the use of a movement sensor.Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Jim,I have tested two wheelchair bound applicants for dispatch positions. The wheelchair was not a problem. Another thought; Most wheelchair users do not live in that chair and can be easily moved/lifted into a polygraph exam chair. Ted IP: Logged |

I have tested a wheelchair bound sex offender. He was able to lift himself enough to place the activity sensor under him. Also the other components were attached without much problem. If I recall correctly I did get good charts and he was asked to explain significant reactions to at least one of the relevant test questions. He then made admissions to additional victims in his sexual history. IP: Logged |

If you don't have any feeling, can you even move your butt without moving the upper extremity? I would test him w/or without the CM pad - just like we did in the old days…lol. I think you could get some assistance from another LEO to assist in placing the pad if you are concerned. Regardless you know what to look for even if you didn't use the pad. As long as his brain is working he is dangerous - test him no matter what he is sitting in! EW, I just had a thought of an admission I got many years ago…..

Jim, I tested a homicide suspect once while he was in his wheel chair (double amputee) and had no trouble. He was just sitting is a different type of chair. IP: Logged |

The offender is too big to move (about 350-375lbs) into another chair. Hell, I'm not picking him up...I was thinking of leaning him forward and putting the sensor under his back. Thanks for the input guys, Jim
